There’s No Age Limit On Greatness

As the television cameras rolled, an unknown, middle-aged woman walked confidently to center stage. She smiled broadly, seemingly oblivious to the collective gaze of a national television audience.

Camera shots of the audience revealed a mocking tone. They were laughing at her. They were pre-judging her because she didn’t fit into their limited vision of what a singer “should” look like.

Then something magical happened. She began to sing so beautifully, that she proved everyone wrong, and received a standing ovation before the conclusion of the song.

That evening, Susan Boyle stepped into her Greatness.

At the age of 47, she showed us all that there is no age limit on Greatness. She showed us that it’s never too late to chase your dreams.

Her version of “I dreamed a dream” from Les Miserables, on the Britain’s got talent television show, launched a very successful singing career that she enjoys to this day. If you haven’t seen it, get on over to You Tube and check it out.

Too often we let society define age appropriate behavior. Conventional wisdom suggests that if we haven’t succeeded by a certain age, we are failures.

Here’s another shining example of why that is false:

Anna Mary Robertson, also known as “Grandma Moses,” became famous for her nostalgic paintings of rural American life. Her artwork garnered worldwide acclaim, and maintains its popularity today. She didn’t start painting until she was in her 70’s.

Please remember that it’s NEVER too late to chase your dreams.

It’s NEVER too late to improve your life.

It’s NEVER too late to be a better you.

Let your next step be a step into Greatness.
